IATSE AND LYNDA.COM

In the fall of 2015, in a continuing effort to provide professional development opportunities for all IATSE members, the Education and Training Department added a valuable new tool to our training arsenal – lynda.com. Through this partnership, subscribed members have had unlimited access to lynda.com’s online library of over 3,500 high quality instructional videos across a wide spectrum of technologies. To date, over 6,300 members have subscribed to lynda.com through the IATSE and have had access to courses in audio visual, animation, design, photography, business writing, negotiation, conflict resolution, communication, and more – and more members enroll every day.

The IATSE will continue to offer premium annual discounted Lynda.com subscriptions to members in good standing and local union staff. Year 2 subscriptions will begin on September 1, 2016 and end on August 31, 2017 and cost $25. Year 1 subscriptions expire on August 31, 2016, and are no longer available.

Audiovisual communications technologies are exploding throughout the Entertainment and Exhibition industries. Trade shows, live performances, sales and corporate presentations, movies, television, theatre, and educational seminars are using these technologies more and in innovative ways. This explosion has created a need for more and better trained personnel to install, maintain, and operate the equipment. Seeing the opportunity for IATSE members, the International has entered into a partnership with InfoComm International to provide InfoComm benefits and membership to all IATSE members, and to promote the importance of trained AV professionals

IATSE YOUNG WORKERS

Inspired by a growing push to engage young union members across North America, the IATSE Young Workers was formed in January 2012 to identify young leaders and give our young union members a greater understanding of the responsibilities of leadership. Education for young workers is geared towards practical leadership skills, general union knowledge, and empowering them on the jobsite or workplace.
